More Geek, Less Nerd!

The two-days of free Sirius, scheduled for October 25th and 26th (via online streaming without the need of a satellite radio) is only a day away. Sirius has issued a press release listing both days' programming lineup and Howard Stern's guests. The Sirius.com homepage features two slides pushing Sirius Internet Radio. To celebrate the launch of SIRIUS Internet Radio (SIR), its new CD quality, Internet-only version, SIRIUS Satellite Radio (Nasdaq: SIRI) is offering a free two-day trial on October 25 and 26. For these two days, Howard Stern will deliver his daily uncensored four-hour-plus show along with original programs on Stern's two SIRIUS channels.

If you have been listning to regular FM radio, give Sirius a chance.  I would never go back to normal radio.  I have had Sirius for 2 years this December, and on the infrequent times I am subjected to regular radio, I'm appaled with how many popular songs are clipped/cut/slaughtered from their original version.  When you listen to the music channels on Sirius, you get the uncensored versions of the tunes you love.  With more and more people staying away from record stores, it's amazing how our culture is slowly being turned more and more vanilla. 

Many people slam Howard Stern for being "dirty", but he's real, he tells it like it is, and it is so comforting to hear people talking like adults.  I personally feel this type of radio should be allowed over FM, and leave the choice whether or not to listen to it up to the person in front of the radio, but the FCC sees it differently...  The only clear choice for expressing my frustration with how I dislike my rights being trampled on is to put my money where my mouth is and subscribe.  It's worth every penny (I spend more money on coffee each month)... To put it in perspective, the monthly subscription will run you about the same as 5 gallons of gas at the pump.  I can't express how nice it is to drive 45+ minutes to work and not have to listen to a single commercial!
