Hacking the Motorola Vx00

Xlr8 lays out a really good tutorial for hacking the Motorola Vx00 Phones. Including links to all the software needed, and a step-by-step process for unlocking lots of features that are not enabled using the default .seem files. You'll need a USB cable for your phone, P2Kman, and XVI32. A list of hacks is available here. I don't own a Cell Phone, so I don't really see the need to hack it, but the screenshots look pretty cool too. My favorite hack is changing the outside LCD Text to say something other than "Cingular". You can change the text that's displayed by altering the values on the text side of the hex editor. I've got version 07.E0 SW Version: R374_G_0E.40.57R_A1 Guess I can unlock my phone if I could only find a unlock code generator... Checked at pirate bay, but could only find unlock generators for older Morotola phones. BTW, unlocking the phone not only allows you to use a different provider, but allows better battery life and also allows you to capture video, not just still pictures.... OH, and unlocks another 2MB of internal storage...

HiUnlocking won't give you

Hi Unlocking won't give you the "video" feature. What you need to do to get that is flash the phone either with a Flash/flex or i prefer a monster pack which formats your phone and copys the monster pack onto it and then you can have the video feature and then you can also copy new java games over. i know how u guys can record your own ringtones! here are the steps : 1. go to 'create message' 2. then down to 'new multimedia message' 3. then press 'insert' 4. then press 'voice record' 5. then press and hold the key that you use when you are recording a regular voice record, while you are doing this, let the music that you want to be set as your ringtone be playing, the voice record will only record for about 20 seconds or so. 6. when your done, a blank screen will pop up like your about to send a text message, but just press 'ok' dont write anything 7. then you press 'one time entry' and then a random number (i recomend "555-5555") 8. then the message will send, go to your 'outbox' and press 'read' , the voice record will play, press the menu button (the one that allows you to delete, rename, edit, etc..) and press 'store' from that menu 9. and from there it says 'file' press store, and then just use common sense from there ... it may sound complicated, but its actually very easy when you try it. ENJOY!

Another Ringtone method

You can also create short mp3 clips on your computer using any audio editing software you prefer...Then this is what I do... 1. Create my mp3 clip that I want as a ring tone. 2. Copy that mp3 to a folder on my web server in a folder that is on the web. I.e. all my genericgeek.com files are in a particular drive on my web server. 3. Open my web browser on the phone. 4. Navigate to the folder and download the mp3 to my phone, i.e. http://www.genericgeek.com/phone/mymp3.mp3 You can also get good ring tones from sites that give you direct links to short audio clips in mp3 format... i.e. 50 Cent - Freestyle - You would browse to "http://www.cupofnoodles.com/~nickos/crap/freestyle.mp3" on your phone... or It's Your Birthday - You would browse to "http://www.cupofnoodles.com/~nickos/crap/bday.mp3" on your phone... Non-Fuzzy Ringtones

The application that I use to convert my mp3's into ringtone size files is called Audacity, an open-source application from sourceforge. It requires the LAME encoder, just search google for "lame_enc.dll" it's free too... I usually export the clips as mp3 mono at 32kbps, and they may sound a bit "fuzzy", but if it's a short clip that loops, you could export it as 128kbps Stereo and it would be as crisp as what you usually listen to on your mp3 player (ipod). Hope that helps. I made a 33 second ringtone that's 525KB (GET IT HERE), my first token effort to actually edit the song and not just pull clips out of it...

Go to the web interface on your phone, and type in the url in my comment... I think it was "http://www.genericgeek.com/fm.mp3" (without the quotes) your phone will download the high-quality mp3 to your phone and you can save it as a ringtone.

Motorola Subsidy password needed PLEASE HELP

I bought a Miami Ink Edition Razor V3 on ebay. It is a Tmobile phone, and I am a Cingular\att&t customer. Tmobile will do nothing without an original reciept or being a tmobile customer. Cingular can't do it, and Motorola said call tmobile. Can anyone help me? This is a beautful pink razor with a design of Cherry Blossoms by Ami James of Miami Ink. I really need to get this to work with my Att&t sim card! angelgarrigus@hcis.net
